The Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse restoration project have set the deadline for the first printing of these unique license plates for June 14th so this is the call to order! As I've talked about this fundraising effort before in another blog - it's local, it's important & it is what good citizens need to do when government can not. This is part of our local piece of history, the Plum Beach lighthouse, that all visitors to our state see as they pass from North Kingstown RI over the Verazzano/Jamestown bridge toward Newport RI. Don't wait to order this special license plate but support this grassroots funding project to give a Narragansett Bay lighthouse the designation it deserves in full view (front and back!) on any Rhode Island car. The state of RI will print your current license plate number onto the forefront of the Plum Beach Lighthouse picture for only $41.50. The $20 portion of this license fee amount goes towards the restoration fund to paint the lighthouse. The Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse are distributing the first printing at a special plate event on July 24 and 25 so there is not much time to place this RI plate order. Applications received after June 14 will be processed separately so order now. Be distinct, be supportive & be Rhode Island!
