The buyer had made his commitment to buy my Dad's property ...so it was the last time the sunset would set on my dad's house. It was due to be torn down within the next couple of weeks to make way for something of a much larger and palatial nature.
Though to my dad his house was a palace...everything seen and desired is through one's own
eyes and being...this was not the palace this asset manager at a bank envisioned for himself. He paid cash so there wasn't to be much squabbling among the siblings about it and although a lower sale price than anticipated it had no contract contingencies and would close quickly.
Still it was hard to let this piece of my dad go since the house played a big part in his life. In his later years, all the children agreed that it was the house that defined him. Yet the sunset was beautiful this evening and he would be glad we got to say goodbye to it in his stead. There was not much else to do. Except enjoy the sunset one last time at Dad's house.
