I am Sorry but I am Not that Ginny ! It has happened to me two times in the last week when a home seller
has called me up and started talking about how good it was to work with me years ago. My mind begins its free flowing synchronization on the name of this person. I ask a couple of times for them to repeat their name because I know I did not sell their home for them. No bell ringing going off.
Are you sure you worked with Ginny Gorman I asked? And I do have to say that two times since their name is not registering with me at all. The caller again says I can not remember your last name...wasn't it you?
Truthfully, I do have to be very upfront and let them know that I am not sure which Ginny they worked with but they found me by Googling Ginny in Rhode Island real estate and I popped up. No, it was not me. Alas....
Yes, I was a REMAX agent I told them years ago but no longer affiliated with that franchise but I am sure if you call the office that you dealt with, someone will tell you the last name of that 'Ginny'.
Yes, I would love to sell your home but why don't you explore locating your past realtor with that phone call first. I will not act slimey and scoop someone else's client up like that. Would you? I have a good conscience and I would just not feel right doing otherwise.
Both of these sellers were older people and obviously the other agent 'Ginny' just did not do a great job of checking in with them. Okay call it a pay it forward situation. Would another real estate agent give me that grace period and push the seller my way? Don't know that. However, this situation would NEVER happen to me with a seller or buyer. My past closed clients always hear from me and I do not lose them from my database. Plus my clients can always GOOGLE me! I am Sorry but I am Not that Ginny !
