HTML, hyper blogging, linking are all terms all who love real estate must become familiar with to showcase their areas of expertise. Well Craig Daniels does the new 'html' on Activerain to a new dimension by showing us the changes AR has just done for all of us bloggers in real estate.
Did you think you lost it in another glitch? No, not at all. It just moved to the top of the heap so to speak. So check out Craig's overview and get htmling today...it is easier and clearer. Yes, you do not lose your wysiwyg writings anymore either. Great job ActiveRain!
The recent update for ActiveRain now allows you easier access to the HTML view on your blog posts. There used to be two tabs WYSIWYG and HTML to switch back and forth. BUT before you clicked on a tab, you had to save the post (to Draft) and then go back into the edit mode and then pick the tab to change views. That was a lot of extra steps!
Now we have an HTML button that will pop up the HTML view. You can make your edit and then close the pop up view to see the immediate change.
Now the question,
why would you want to go to HTML?There are certain types of things that you can embed in your blog posts where you get the source code from other sites. Two of my favorite things to embed are YouTube videos and Google Maps. Once you get the source HTML code from these sites copied onto your clipboard, you come back to AR and post it (in the new HTML view).
HTML code can be a little intimidating when you don't know how to read it (it really isn't so bad once you understand). Don't sweat it, you DON'T HAVE TO LEARN HTML to use it. You have your snippet of code waiting on your clipboard, you just need to give yourself a bit of placeholder text to know where to insert it. I like the phrases "MAP HERE" or "VIDEO HERE" (tip: caps helps it to stand out). Put this text in your blog post in the normal view. When you switch to HTML view, just look for the placeholder text and simply highlight the text and then paste the HTML code to overwrite the placeholder text. That's it. Close the HTML view and check out your results.
Thank you ActiveRain for implementing new updates to make our blogging easier!

Ginny: I often transfer content from my WP blog (including videos) to AR and have been impressed how easy/quick the new html option is. Good re-blog choice.
Yes.. I too have been using the button.. at first i thought i was crazy when it went MIA.. It is easy though.. and now much more efficient since Craig showed us how to use it.. Thanks!
THANK YOU Ginny for re-blogging this, cuz we missed Craig's blog!! Whoo Hoo!! This will be great!!
Hi Ginny,
I have seen the new HTML but never have checked it out. What scares me a but is that the thing ans steps you need to do to use it.
Like it says in the post HTML code can be a little intimidating.
Have a great day in North Kingstown.
Best, Clint McKie
Ginny good job in spreading the news. I saw the blog the other day and bookmarked for the future. I do not embed videos often so when I do I always have to read through the directions, the new process is much easier, and I might even remember this one.
Ginny, I have been so busy, I have not noticed this change, will need to go in and take a closer look!
Ginny - Thanks so much for reblogging so i got to see it was up and running. It really is easy!
