Ginny's RI House Hunt Blog: Bye Bye Google Plus Great Social Media Site

Bye Bye Google Plus Great Social Media Site

Bye Bye Google Plus Great Social Media Site

It may be news to you and was to me that GOOGLE has decided to shut down G+ (Google Plus) after the disclosure that user information has been exposed.  The worse part of it is that GOOGLE knew about it for months and did not let users, like myself, know about it! google plus Another misstep for this search engine that makes all users shudder.  It is believed that user names, email addresses, occupation, gender and age of users was revealed.  Just be aware of it.

Google Plus has been struggling to match Facebook in its social exercise of 'togetherness' and this was the straw to break the camels back it seems.  Personally I found it more professional and loved the photos, scenes and top posts by SEO gurus to be far superior.  It will be missed by me.  I suppose you can now say all those posts were for not!

Thanks for sharing - I read about that this morning too. I was a "member" but never saw the purpose of it.

Good morning, Ginny Gorman there is not site online that is totally safe.... credit cards are compromised....  I would never have my financial information from checking accounts online... never... Google+ is just another example.

Good Morning Ginny Gorman

I never really used Google +. With digital media we all open ourselves to the wild west unruliness

I read about this on another post on active rain too. I have not posted much on google plus but google has all our information and hackers may have got it too. I have no idea. It is so scary .

How safe is anything online if a monster like Google gets hacked?

The funny thing is that I was thinking of exploring Google Plus, earlier this month.  I've been busy.  And, then yesterday, I learned it was going away.

Thank for the heads up I had not heard about our friend Google+ but now I know. Have a great week....

Ginny I had a Google+ account but never did anything with it.  Several "X" ActiveRain members talked very highly of it, but now that it is gone, maybe they will return back to AR.

Hi Ginny

Yes, the new is making the rounds. I found it useful but I have to say it won't bother me too much to no longer post there. What's ore troubling is the why behind it!!

When is the D Day? Now I need to remember to take down the Google+ logo in various places.

So much data waiting to be stolen.  I haven't spent my time on G+ for a while. I did enjoy when we had the communities and learned and met some wonderful people. Nothing stays the same.

WOW, thanks for the notice.  I have been managing two or three versions of this for months now and saw some recent activity.  Yes, when a giant like this topples it sends shock waves.

Ginny, thanks for the notice about Google+. It just confirms what most of us know which is that any site is vulnerable.

I was wondering why they were shutting it down. Oh well, at least that's one site I don't have to worry about updating! There's enough other sites to keep up with!

I heard that it just down and yet today my "business profile" asked me to add another post.  I guess that's the switch.  The business profiles are more social now?  Anyway, frustrating that they didn't reveal this earlier!

Ginny,  I have never been a fan of Google/Alphabet.  They are an insidious bunch that should be avoided at all costs.

Because they want to be the repository of all information on the planet - including every bit of your personal information, they will ALWAYS be the largest target for black hat folks.

People should never be surprised when Google is hit, and if they use them for anything, they shouldn't be mad when their info is stolen.

I have had a Google+ account for some time.

Never did figure out how to get any benefit from it.

I had seen that they were taking it down.

I checked and it seems to still be up.

Google Plus had possibilities that were never realized. I have not paid attention to it in a long time.

I only used G+ because I felt like it helped blog posts get picked up faster. I don't even think the Google execs were using G+!
